Metal Detector: Care & maintenance of metal detector

1. Handle the detector gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage circuit boards and cases and can cause the detector to work improperly.
2. Use the detector only in normal temperature environments. Temperature extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage the cases of the detector.
3. Keep the detector away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear of parts.
4. Wipe the detector with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the detector.

Metal Detector: How to pinpoint The Target

Follow these steps to pinpoint a target.
1. When the detector detects a buried target, continue sweeping the search coil over the target in a narrowing side-to-side motion.
2. Make a visual note of exact spot on the ground where the detector beeps.
3. Stop the search coil directly over this point on the ground. Then move the search coil straight forward away from you and straight back towards you a couple of times.
4. Repeat steps 1~3 at a right angle to the original search line, Make a mark of 'X". The target will be directly below the 'X' at the point of the beep response.

Metal Detector: Four tips for searching coil sweeping hints

1. The detector responds with a signal when it detects most valuable metal objects. If a signal does not repeat after you sweep the search coil over the target a few times, the target is probably junk metal.
2. False signals can be caused by trashy ground, electrical interference, or large irregular piece of junk metal.
3. False signals are usually broken or non-repeatable.
4. In order to detect the target deeply buried, you can adjust the SENS to a high position. But not to set the level of SENS to Max position, or the detector will receive interference and false signal from broadcast antenna and other electronic lines. The detector will have unstable arrow and irregular tone indications

Metal Detector: Tesing and using the detector

Indoor Testing and Use
1. Press POWER to power on the detector.
2. Follow the instructions described in OPERATION to set SENSITIVITY, VOLUME and operation mode.
3. Place the detector on a wooden or plastic table, then remove any watches, rings, or metal jewelry you are wearing.
4. Adjust the search coil so the flat part points towards the ceiling.
Note:
Never test the detector on a floor inside a building. Most buildings have metal of some kind in the floor, which might interfere with the objects you're testing or mask the signal completely
Outdoor Testing and Use
1. Press POWER to power on the detector.
2. Follow the instructions described in OPERATION to set SENSITIVITY, VOLUME and operation mode.
3. Find an area on the ground outside where there is no metal.
4. Place a sample of the material you want the detector to find (such as a gold ring or a coin) on the ground.
Note:
If you are using valuable metal such as gold to test the detector, mark the area where you place the item, to help you find it later. Do not place it in tall grass or weeds).
Hold the search coil level to the ground about 1~2 inches above the surface, slowly move the search coil over the area where you placed the sample, sweeping the search coil in a side-to-side motion

Metal Detector: Two modes of GC-1069 Metal Detector

1. ALL METAL
All metal is used to find all kinds of metal targets
When the detector is powered on, LCD displays SENS and three target indicators (Silver/copper, Mid-range, and Iron). In this case, the detection mode is for ALL METAL. You can detect all kinds of metal in this mode.
2. DISC
DISC is used to discriminate the unwanted metal type.
Meanwhile SENS extinguishes. In this case, the detector enters discrimination selection status. You can select the unwanted target (s) by pressing + or -. The selected target(s) will be discriminated (eliminated) during the detection.You can select one or two targets to be discriminated.
To select the setting of DISC, follow these steps:
a. Press MODE to get DISC display at the right top of the LCD. Meanwhile an arrow points to the target indicator and the pointed target indicator flashes.
b. Press + or ' to move the arrow up or down to select the target to be discriminated(eliminated). If you don't press + or ' after the target indicator flashes three times, it will extinguish. This means this target is discriminated ( eliminated) and will not be detected during the detection.
c. When no indicator nor arrow flashes, SENS will recover on the display. At this time user can adjust the sensitivity to desired level.
d. Press MODE twice to choose DISC again. You can follow the method described in step 'a' to choose the undesired target.
e. If you want to discriminate two target categories, press + or ' to move the arrow up or down as soon as the first target indicator extinguishes. Once the second target indicator and the arrow extinguish, you can start the detection of the rest target.
Note: You can choose two of the three categories to be eliminated

Metal Detector: What will affect the detecting of GC-1069

1. If there are interference from other instruments or electrical cable or TV or radio in your searching area, lower the sensitivity, or to change the current searching area.
2. When searching in highly mineralized area, the unit will sound even if there's no metal. In this case, you can lower the sensitivity and increase the height between the search coil and the ground until the false signal disappears.
3.When searching in trash area, it's better not to set the sensitivity to high level, so that the unit can notch most of invaluable metals such as nails and small trashy iron.
4.Move away any metal digging tool when searching

Metal Detector: Battery installation and its requirement of GC-1069

Installing batteries
1. You need one 9V alkaline battery to power your detector.
2. Press on the battery compartment cover and slide the cover off in the direction of the arrow.
3. Connect the battery with the battery connector taking care of the polarity. Then put the battery into the compartment.
4. Replace the cover.
Cautions:
1. Use only fresh battery of the required size and recommended type.
2. If the detector is on, turn the power off. Always remove old or weak battery; battery can leak chemicals that can destroy electronic parts.
3. If you do not plan to use the detector for a week or more, remove the battery.
4. Dispose of old battery promptly and properly.
You can extend battery life by using headphones, which require less power than the built-in speaker.
