How States are Reopening

What Does Reopening the State Looks Like

Unfortunately, the past few months have been pretty rough for many of us, however, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. As the country begins reopening states, political leaders are taking precautions in order to keep their citizens safe. Though life may not be exactly the same, we are encouraged to adjust to the new normal. Yescom is here to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

Reopening is Phases

Due to the mysterious nature of this highly contagious illness, there is a lot more that we do not know than we do. For this reason, many states are slowly and carefully reopening in stages. In order to safely reopen government officials suggest:

  1. Waiting for a downward trajectory of reported illnesses for at least 14-days
  2.  Waiting until hospitals are able to treat all patients without using crisis care
  3. A strong testing program for at-risk healthcare workers

Phase One

During the first phase, we are urged to continue local guidance and wear face coverings when in public. Vulnerable individuals, such as those with compromised immune systems, should continue to shelter in place. Keep in mind that residents who do decide to go back to work are at risk of bringing the illness back home.

When in public, we are encouraged to keep as much physical distance from one another as reasonably possible. Social gatherings should not exceed 10 people and non-essential travel should be limited.

Employers should allow telework if possible. They should close off common areas and be sure to keep the place clean. Use a physical barrier like a traffic cone, to indicate closed spaces.

Phase Two

During this phase precautions such as wearing a face-covering should continue. Social settings should not exceed more than 50 people and non-essential travel can commence.  Employers should continue to encourage telework if possible and should consider offering special accommodation to those who might be affected.

Schools and large venues are allowed to reopen so long as they adhere to moderate physical distancing protocols. In order to follow the CDC guidelines to safety, many teachers and presenters are using large projection screens to communicate from a distance.

Phase Three

The final phase includes resuming bar and gym activities. Though physical distance is still encouraged, it is not enforced. Vulnerable individuals should take special precautions when reentering the public including practicing perfect hygiene and wearing a face covering.

All business owners will be allowed to reopen but expected to take precautions. Depending on your business you might need to take special care when it comes to cleaning, especially items that are touched frequently. Objects such as menus, for example, should be placed inside menu covers so that they can be easily wiped down and cleaned each day.
